Though it is sometimes hard to predict what might motivate the discontinuation of any Church units, it has to mean something that such discontinuations are much fewer and farther between than stake creations. So far, we have seen the discontinuation of one district in the Philippines (with the affected units transferred to the other district in the city) and one stake in Guatemala. It is interesting to consider these things. I have also enjoyed following the reports on the LDS Church Temples website about individual wards and branches that have been discontinued as well. Hopefully these changes are happening to enable future growth, and not because of any stagnation in those areas. I welcome any other thoughts about these things.

The number of discontinued units has increased lately. Again, I assume the idea is to stablize and strengthen some units that are not sustaining themselves sufficiently to be retained. It is interesting to see what is involved in determining when and why that should happen. I continue to welcome any and all comments. Thank you.

The Church has issued this statement on a mission merge in Russia. I couldn't wait to share that information. Enjoy!
