Hello. As there have been many who have asked me lately how I determine which conference session to put each apostle in for my predictions every six months, I thought I would post the table I use to track that information. By way of explanation, I provide the following table key:
Apr.=April General Conference
Oct.=October General Conference
SAM=Saturday Morning Session (during which we typically here from two apostles)
SAA=Saturday Afternoon Session (during which we typically hear from four apostles)
SPH=Priesthood Session, held Saturday night (during which we typically hear from one apostle)
SUM=Sunday Morning Session (during which we typically hear from two apostles)
SUA=Sunday Afternoon Session (during which we typically hear from the remaining three apostles that have not yet spoken)
Please also note that President Nelson, as Quorum President, is usually the very first apostolic speaker or the very last in any given session, and that Elder Hales, who has been unwell for several years, generally is the first apostolic speaker in any given session, giving the shortest talk of all of them.
Please also note that the bottom table, which indicates the order in which the apostles speak, comes with numbers. The first parenthetical number refers to their seniority within the Quorum, while the second refers to the number of apostles that have spoken at each point in the conference. At the bottom, the figures mentioned are determined by adding the two numbers together, and placing the result in a category of even or odd.
What that means for the prediction for this next conference is that I am predicting that we will not have any apostle whose seniority number matches their speaking order. This is atypical, as there is usually at least one occurrence of that per conference.
As an example of what I mean, let's look at President Nelson, whom I list as the first speaker in the Saturday Afternoon Session. His apostolic number is 1 (being the most senior member), and his speaking order number is 3 (because two other apostles spoke before him). So, if we add his apostolic number (1) to his speaking order number (3), the resulting figure is 4, which, as an even number, makes President Nelson one of three others (4 total) whose result is even. I would be happy to discuss any questions on this with anyone. Hope you enjoy looking at this as much as I have enjoyed preparing it.
